How to Do Chakra Meditation

Chakra meditation is a simple technique to help you balance and heal your chakras. It can also increase your mental health and well-being. You can perform chakra meditation with various tools, including music, visualizations, and crystals. However, it’s important to choose the tools that feel most natural for you.

Meditation through breathing is a wonderful way to connect with the chakras. It is a gentle and meditative practice that can be done anywhere in the world on any day of the week. During a chakra meditation, you can use your breath to open and bring awareness, vitality and silence to each of the seven chakras. This is a form of Tantra meditation.

Begin by standing with your feet as wide apart as possible, keeping your body relaxed and your body weight evenly distributed. Close your eyes and breathe deeply and rapidly into the first chakra, letting your mind become fully aware of the feelings and sensations of the inhale and exhale. Repeat this inhale-exhale cycle for each chakra. After breathing in the seventh chakra, you will hear three bells indicating that it is time to move your breathing and awareness upward through the seven chakras to the first chakra again.

Once you have reached the first chakra, you can move your hands and body in any way that feels comfortable and keep your feet in one spot while doing so. Your movement and awareness will become continuous and effortless as you do so. One of the most powerful ways to do chakra meditation is through visualization. This is because colours carry a frequency and coding that transmits information to your mind, body, and subtle body.

As such, meditating on the colour associated with a specific chakra point can stimulate that particular chakra and assist it in the opening. By doing this regularly, the imprints that have been accumulated will be shifted and reorganized so that the chakra points can function optimally. For example, if your root chakra is blocked, visualize it as a ball of red light at the base of your spine, slowly becoming bigger and stronger with every breath.

Now move your awareness to your sacral or passion chakra - the seat of your creative impulse, emotional intelligence and pleasure. Visualize it as a bright orange sphere, surrounding it with an intensely vibrant glow. A good way to do chakra meditation is through symbols. Symbols convey messages hidden inside the chakra and contain the keys to open the mysteries of the energy centres.

Chakra symbols can help you align and re-balance your energy system and can also guide you on the path towards enlightenment. They can help you overcome obstacles, overcome emotional blockages, and reach higher spiritual consciousness.

A lotus: Many yoga practitioners picture chakras like a lotus flower with opening and closing petals. It represents a sense of peace and connectedness to the Divine.

The triangle: Triangles usually symbolize the direction of energy flow. The downward-pointing triangle symbolizes the connection to the earth, and the upward-pointing triangle symbolizes the upliftment of consciousness.

Colours: Several colours are associated with specific chakras. The colours on the red side of the spectrum promote life energy and strength, while those on the blue side are often described as calm but can call to mind feelings of joy, happiness, compassion, kindness, clarity of mind, sadness or indifference.

Chakra meditation is a relaxation technique that connects you to the energy flowing throughout your body. These invisible wheels of energy promote harmony between body, mind, and spirit. During chakra meditation, you may focus on one chakra at a time, or you can rotate through several. Regardless of your chosen method, each chakra is believed to correspond to different aspects of life.

For example, the root chakra is linked to physical survival, security, and grounding. When this centre is blocked, you may experience anxiety or feel unsupported by your environment. This chakra also helps you identify your own identity and values. When this chakra is open and balanced, you can follow your intuition, trust your inner voice, and gain greater insight into the world around you.

If you have a strong desire to meditate, doing some basic exercises before embarking on your journey is a good idea. These exercises will help you focus on each chakra and discharge old emotions and thought patterns that no longer serve you.
